Chaotic World, Calm Mind

There is a lot going on in this ghetto world. How do you stay grounded and sane?

Meditation has kept me "normal" over the last few years. At first, I thought it was impossible. My mind is pretty active most of the time. My hubby asks me regularly, "Are you always THINKING?"

It took me awhile to master meditation. I had the misconception that your mind had to be SILENT, EMPTY...blank. Once I let go of this misconception, I learned to quiet the mind. Once the mind is quiet, you can connect with your inner spirit. That inner spirit is God, the Creator. It is my ancestors like my mother, grandparents, or friends who have passed on from this earth. Other times, it's that "voice" which could be your own intuition or a spirit guide. Meditation is different from prayer, but I have integrated both together. It depends on the day and what is happening at the moment.

If my mind is all over the place thinking about what to make for breakfast, the bill I need to pay, or project that needs to get done, I imagine sending the thought down a lazy river. Sometimes I imagine tearing it up or burning it depending on how I feel at the moment.

For me, I sit in quiet with my eyes closed with candles and Palo Santo burning during the early morning before the sun rises. If I am NOT at home, it is just me with no other items. Sometimes I use Crystal therapy or Reiki. Sometimes I sit for 2 minutes and other times 30 minutes. I do what works for me within that moment. I have no rules, no guidelines. There are times I receive no information. You have to be good with nothing. Other times, I receive information to journal or inspiration for the day.

Tip #2: MEDITATE!

Meditation can keep your mind, spirit, and body calm within a chaotic environment. I have had more clarity. I can remember dreams more often. I am more creative. Overall, my day has more intention and purpose. Try meditating at the same time, every day for a week. Let me know how you feel!
