Detox the Mind, Body, and Spirit

Last week, my oldest son and I attempted a 3 day detox. Key word: ATTEMPTED. I used a formula similar to a popular cleanse that celebrities use and reduced the amount to drink for my son. We both experienced a "set back" of our symptoms. AJ's coughing increased and my nose started running even MORE. The effect is very common when your body is purging. I continued until Tuesday morning when all my premade detox drink was consumed.
This short window of time is not enough for most people. We live in a very toxic world. We are exposed daily to unnatural ingredients in our air, water, food, and medicines. To really detoxify, you need to make a commitment to yourself for real change. We may be able to get through a 3 day detox without cheating. But, can you go month or a year dedicated to detoxifying your body? Look...I will not lie. Those french fries, chai tea lattes, and ice cream treats will be yelling out my name. APRIL!!!! HEY, OVER HERE! They always come back into my life during or after any cleanse I have done.
To have the next detox period more effective, I really have to work on my mind and spirit to shift how I think about consumption. I am not talking about food consumption which is a trigger for some people. I have never had a big appetite. I am notorious for eating once or twice a day. I am convinced this is how I have stayed relatively the same size for the last 25 years. I am not talking about cars, clothing, or other material things. Anyone who knows me knows that I do not strive to "keep up with the Joneses" whoever they are.
The one thing that holds me back is MEDIA. I have limited my television time. I don't watch traditional news but I still have several series recording on my DVR. I want my favorite trashy foods when I am watching Married at First Sight or Real Housewives. The conflict shown subliminally has me reaching for comfort foods: chips, a cocktail, ice cream. Even if its a sappy, predictable Hallmark movie, I might celebrate the love story with a cookie as I stroll off to bed knowing that the main character found her Prince Charming.
The other trigger is social media. I love checking in on family and friends. It feels good seeing birthday celebrations and other milestones. I follow world events, news, and other topics on a number of platforms. I will be honest...its a hot mess out here in these streets! Many times I threaten to get off of social media altogether, but I have found great resources and information on it. Its a total time suck when I should be doing other productive things. It can also be depressing when you have dug down into the rabbit hole. Enter Harold's Chicken as a band-aid.
So, before I share this Mucus Buster/Detox formula, how do I set you up for success? I am going to give you one piece of advice...GET YOUR MIND RIGHT! Start making steps to eliminate or reduce those triggers. Meditate or pray regularly. Get up and move your body. The holiday season is here. How will you deal with celebratory meals, cakes, pies, and cocktails? How will you deal with seeing family and friends that you may not have seen in two or three years? This is a highly charged, emotional time of the year. Start now to practice self care and discernment.

Excellent share! You really have to get your "mind right" and we are on the path to achieving our goals.
Awesome read thanks for encouraging us to want to do better and treat the body right.🤗
