Trash The Toxic Thoughts!

If your head is not in the right place that everything else will go downhill. To have good physical and mental health, it starts with your mind. Your brain is the control center of your body. If your mind is stuck in toxicity with anger, jealousy, negative thoughts, and irritation, your body will follow. You get sucked into emotional eating, overspending, yelling at your kids, or drowning your sorrows in drugs and alcohol. Pick your poison! It will only lead you to sickness, debt, struggling relationships, and potentially death.

Most of my stress sits in my gut and causes digestive issues. Then, to top it off, I might layer it on with some ice cream or Harold's chicken (or both!). What a way to deal with my emotions!


It is easy to say "Just let it go". But, how easy is it to really DO it? It is important to protect your thoughts and emotions so you don't react poorly with toxic behavior. If something triggers you, simply ask yourself WHY?


I routinely have this mental check with myself. Once I keep going and dig into the rabbit hole of the WHY, I get to the root cause. Many times I realize the problem is ME. I've stayed too long in a situation or I cared way too much. Maybe I shared too much information and the other person used it against me. Sometimes I've internalized something that is really just not my problem or business at all! Once I get down to the real reason why I am frustrated, sad, or upset. I visualize throwing the situation in the trash can, burning it, or sending it down the river.


Ultimately, I know that I cannot control other people. I can only control my own thoughts and actions. My stomach issues have corrected itself. I enjoy the occasional bowl of ice cream because I want it and not because I'm stressed out. If I feel the need to address the issue, I can approach it with love and understanding.
