Know Thy Self

I was brainwashed as a child. My parents did it. It's their fault. They told me to walk with my head up and to be confident. They nurtured my love for reading and drawing. I never had the thought as a black girl that I couldn't do or be anything I wanted to be. Never once did I think I had a limitation. I knew I was untouchable. I had a father and older brothers and everyone knew it. I was never bullied or had a fight for being myself. My parents had a mission to ensure that I was self confident, self aware, and prepared to withstand the world. Was I perfect? No. Was I gullible and fall for the okie doke? ABSOLUTELY. I still had hard lessons to learn but my foundation was solid.

The last couple of years have been a journey of really understanding the power I hold within myself. I knew a shift was coming but I had no idea it was in the form of a pandemic. It was a blessing in disguise to work from home and SLOWING THE F*CK DOWN. Every decision I made was more intentional to protect my energy. I eliminated toxic situations, turned off the TV and the radio, and took extra time for myself. I have learned a lot being at home. Once you understand yourself, you have more clarity with everything and everyone else around you.
Everything you ingest impacts you: the news, tv shows, music, food, friends, family, and work. If you feel stressed and overwhelmed, evaluate the trigger within yourself. Your reality lies within you. No one else is in control. Do not be afraid to make dramatic shifts in your life to protect your spirit and your mind. You mind is your control center for physical, mental, and spiritual health. Without all parts being in balance, you are guaranteed to have some type of ailment.
I know my life has changed permanently. I've come too far in one year to turn backwards. And, if you ever need a little help in understanding yourself a little better, go within. You really have all the answers already.
